Civil Engineering is a versatile branch that deals with the design, construction as well as maintenance of naturally and physically built environments. It is the branch with a lot of diversity from geotechnical sciences to structural engineering, environmental to hydraulics, transportation to hydrology. Civil Engineering Department has been functioning since 2013 as one of the primary Departments of the Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering & Technology (GKCIET). Presently the Department of Civil Engineering offers 3-year Diploma program in Civil Engineering and 4 years B.Tech program in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The courses are delivered as a combination of lectures, tutorials, practices including industrial visits etc.  Amongst all branches of engineering, the range and application of Civil Engineering is the broadest and the most visible. There is great employment prospects for Civil Engineers in government and public sectors like the railways, municipalities/urban local bodies, Defence, CPWD/PWD, government development authorities like the DDA, AAI and government housing authority, and in private sector also.

• To consolidate the Diploma and Degree programs currently being offered by the Department and start PG and Ph.D programs at the earliest.
• Provide opportunities and resources for academicians and researchers to carry out the state-of-the-art research and development work.
• To provide quality technical education in the broad field of Civil Engineering, with emphasis on professional ethics and social commitment.
• To nurture innovative ideas, new techniques and methods through basic and applied research in real life problems in the field of civil engineering.
• To provide effective consultancy services for delivering the output of the research to the society.
• To create dynamic, technologically capable Civil Engineering professionals with leadership skills.

To develop highly qualified Civil Engineering professionals through education, research and innovation so that they can contribute positively towards socio-economic and infrastructure growth of the nation.
