Robotics Club
Robotics is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering and science that includes Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, and others. It deals with the design, construction, operation, and use of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing.
Robots can be used in any situation and for any purpose, like dangerous environments, manufacturing processes, or where humans cannot survive. It can substitute for humans and replicate human actions such as walking, lifting, speech, cognition, and basically anything a human can do. Many of today’s robots are inspired by nature, contributing to the field of bio-inspired robotics.
GKCIET has established a Robotics Club with a highly enthusiastic team of self-motivated faculty and student members largely for the benefit of the student community and to support innovation happening within the campus where students go, give tech-talks and learn to build innovative robotics projects utilizing their free time. The Club has been started with the coordination of Dr. Habib Masum (Asst. Prof. & Convenor, Robotics Club, E-mail: kingmasum@gmail.com) under the patronage of Hon’ble Director, Prof. P. R. Alapati. The club is run by the students under the guidance of mentors.
Three teams of robotics club members have participated in AICTE-Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards-2019 targeting the problem statement for the Awards, i.e. “How to enhance the income of a Village” with an aim to provide innovative and low-cost solutions. Among these three teams, one team has competed at the Regional Convention held on 26.12.2019 at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata and another at National Convention held on 24.02.2020 at AICTE Headquarters, New Delhi.
